About Svea van der Hoorn: ICF-MCC
Registered Educational Psychologist – HPCSA; AHPRA
Solution-focused Brief Coach; Therapist; Trainer
International Coach Federation Master Certified Coach
D.Ed (Ed Psych); M.Ed (Ed Psych) Cum Laude

I am known for working with individuals, groups, teams, and organisations who seek to thrive despite
the complexity and uncertainty emerging from the diversity of our experiences.
I have an ability to stay steady as well as enable this in others, while nurturing ingenuity. I encourage
small changes rather than big overhauls, drawing on what works. We tweak and nudge to improve.

My expertise draws on:
Education: systems thinking and adult education, applied both in academic and business environments.

Senior lecturer – UCT and Graduate School of Business.

School-based – primary school teacher and educational psychologist.

Leadership and management: Provincial Registrar of the CCMA. I have a keen interest in the
implementation of systems thinking and design thinking for leadership of organisations.

Adult Learning: I combine creative strategies with academic / professional skills, so as to bridge the gap
between the world of ideas and the world of action.

Coaching: ICF MCC Credential. International associate of SolutionsAcademy (Germany). ICF-ACTP

Online education – SF Coaching – foundation modules and coaching in organisations.

SolutionSurfers Brief Coaching (Switzerland). Brief Coaching ICF-ACTP.

Doctorate – The Development of Eco-systemic Thinking by Adult Learners – an epistemological study

Masters – Case formulation in Family Therapy.

I specialise in activity-based learning, reflective practice, and exploring ingenuity, simplicity, the
counter-intuitive, and constructive conversations. I enjoy integrating my academic education with my
practitioner work and life experience in order to offer creative, high quality, enjoyable while rigorous
learning opportunities.
