Topic: Unmasking the Reality of  Urban Lives

Privilege often pushes you to a blind spot that makes the obvious often stay hidden. But just looking around and spotting opportunities can spark change. This change can be driven leveraging communities and can surely uplift scenarios that are skewed for certain part of our society. This is a  session on understanding the lives of our community and migrant workers- what was done during the pandemic to help and what can be done in the future.

Venkat am the managing trustee of a registered public Charitable Trust that works on various issues in the slums of Koramangala, Bangalore, arguably one of the largest slums
The Trust manages schools, Charity clinics, a large interest free lending program ( only for women entrepreneurs in the slums), an educational scholarship that supports more than 200 bright school and college going students each year, other women in programs such as cloth bag stitching etc. The Trust also provides supplementary grocery support to about 1000 families in the community and feeds 2000 cooked meals each day
A computer centre helps students in the community learn computers , evening tuition classes for students, soft-skills and lifeskill training programs and other activities
Before starting SWABHIMAAN, Venkat was working in the Middle East for about 16 years.
